Caring for your leather car seats

Updated: Jan 27, 2022

The leather seats on a car are one of the most common areas that are prone to wear and tear.

The high amount of contact it goes through every day means tears and discolouration are bound to occur if one does not take care of their leather seats properly.

Keeping a regular routine of self-care for your leather car seats is important to keep it looking fresh and ready for the road, and we're here to show you how.

Step 1: Vacuum

The leather seats on a car contain plenty of hard-to-reach areas. Give your seats a good vacuum, clearing any debris and dirt fragments. Chances are that the more the seat has been used, the more likely dirt and debris will be lodged in between nooks and crannies.

Step 2: Clean

A leather cleaner is an effective tool to ensure cleanliness of your leather seats. Use a brush to properly dislodge dirt and grime off your seats. The creases and areas where hair or skin most frequently come into contact with the leather are areas you should watch out for.

Step 3: Wipe

Using a microfibre cloth, simply wipe the excess moisture off the seat and allow to dry for a few hours. This helps to prevent any issues caused by excess moisture such as mould growth.

Step 4: Condition

Condition your leather car seats to ensure that your car seats are kept looking their best and retain their supple feel. It helps to prevent issues such as cracking and peeling, giving it ample protection against sunlight especially when your vehicle is exposed to nature's elements.

Simply apply a liberal amount of conditioner and spread it around the leather surface evenly, before using a dry microfibre towel to wipe off any excess and let it dry.
