Hi all, Chinese New year is just a few days away and I’ve been worrying about what I’m going to wear and started planning my outfit already! I’m sure all of you face this problem and if you’re deciding to go traditional and wear a Cheongsam this year (like I did last year) then this is the article for you!
I’m going to be writing about how to pair a Cheongsam with a bag, because lets face it the Cheongsam isn’t the easiest outfit to match a bag with. If you watched Crazy Rich Asians last year and were inspired to go local this year-not to worry, Grace “Sister” Guo is here to help.
There are a lot of things to take into consideration first, but the colour and style of the Cheongsam you are going to wear is the most important.
You can go traditional and have floral designs on your Cheongsam in bright red or maybe you want to keep it fresh and put a modern twist to a classic like the Cheongsam shown below. It’s all up to you but Grace “Sister” Guo recommends that you pick something you are comfortable in since you’ll be doing a lot of visiting and not to mention SNACKING!
A classic look your relatives will love.
Or maybe a modern touch to a timeless classic
1.Floral and bright clutch.
2. Cheongsam Clutch
This is a unique shaped clutch that is bound to be a conversation starter when you visit your friends and relatives, even perfect for your Tuan Yuan Fan if you plan on going out to a restaurant.
It is traditional and cute at the same time, you can’t go wrong!
Best paired with a Cheongsam in similar colour with plain design.
3.Minimal Design Crossbody Bag
This is a classic bag that I would bring out on a normal day as well, it is versatile and so easy to match and not to mention PERFECT FOR STORING ANG PAOS!
Do be sure to choose a bag that matches the colour of your Cheongsam
Best paired with a Cheongsam that is brightly coloured and patterned
4.Transparent Box Clutch
That’s all for today and I hope that all of you have a better idea of which bag to bring out when wearing a Cheongsam. Not to mention if you cant find a suitable bag on the market, why not create your own one! From the design to its material the choice is yours.
